This is a historic winery, originally under the church, but becoming on private hands in the 16th century. The small church and the central part of the buildings date back to the 9th century. The actual winery is owned and run by the Taddei family on third generation.
A total of 180 hectares is planted with olives, cereals and wine. The wine covers a good 50 hectares and all wines are made from own handpicked grapes to assure as high and constant quality as possible. The vinification takes place in modern halls with the latest technology within the wine industry, but the aging on oak barrels is still being done in the ancient cellars under the historical villa. Here underground are natural excellent conditions as of temperature and humidity. The production is exclusively of red wines as of good Chianti tradition. The Chianti Classico DOCG, but as most others here an own version of Super Tuscan is also being made. Not to forget the outstanding Vin Santo.
