Around the majestic Medici-villa are situated the 732 hectares of land, of which a big part is for olives. Almost 80 hectares are the vineyards, all facing South, providing the grapes for the Artimino wines. The Fattoria Artimino dates back far in history and alreay in 1650 their wines were highly appreciated by the poet Francesco Redi. Today much modernizing has been done to improve the quality of the wine. The grapes are mainly red and almost exclusively of the local sorts, Canaiolo and Sangiovese, but also Cabernet Sauvignon is used. As for the white grapes the local Malvasia and Trebbiano are grown together with international Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. The later 3 ones are used for the only white wine produced by Artimino. The red wines produced are 4 different Carmignano DOCG of which the Grumarello deserves extra attention: the 75% of Sangiovese and 18% of Cabernet Sauvignon are e growing on the best field, the Grumarello. Other wines of importance are the two variants of Vin Santo.
