Cascina Ballarin - The Dancer's Winery - is a small familyrun winery. Since the family Viberti in 1928 constructed the house and the winery all works have been taken care of by the family members. The fact that all works are done personally, the cutting of the plants, the summer work, the harvesting and the fermentation, bottling etc, assures the careful selection of grapes and the high quality of their wines. Cascina Ballarin use exclusively own grapes and have about 10 hectares of wineyards, mainly in the areas of La Morra and Monforte d'Alba.
The main grapes are those typical of the Langhe, Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and Barbera, but also a small harvest of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay will be found. 3 different kinds of Barolo are the top products; Tre Ciabot, where the grapes are coming from 3 different fields. Bussia with grapes only from the famous Bussia-field in Monforte - giving a heavy Barolo which is made in a modern way and aged in barrique of French oak. The Bricco Rocca is the field just above the winery itself and is more elegant, but lighter than the Bussia. Tradional Barolo aged in casks of Slavonian oak of 10-30 hl in size. This also comes in a Riserva.
